Ron Kanterman, 50-year fire service veteran and currently the Executive Chief Inspector for the FDNY, currently serving as the Liaison between the Bureau of Fire Prevention and the Bureau of Fire Operations. He started in the Bureau of Fire Prevention in 1980 and left in 1989 to pursue his firefighting career. He served in NJ and CT eventually serving as the Fire Chief for three fire departments before returning the FDNY in July of 2021. He holds a bachelor’s and two masters’ degrees, has authored 9 fire service textbooks and has taught at 2 and 4-year colleges in undergraduate and graduate fire and emergency management programs for the past 35 years.
Rocco Bonavita Executive Director of the NYC Fire Department’s Fire Alarm Plan Review and Inspectional Services. He has over 23 years of experience in the fire alarm industry with the last 14 years being spent with the NYC Fire Department. Rocco is responsible for managing the process of getting fire alarm systems filed, reviewed, inspected and approved by the NYC Fire Department. In addition to his responsibilities of managing the day to day operations of these critical units, Rocco provides technical assistance to executive management, consultants, industry and the public on interpretation of NYC Electrical Code, Building Codes, and NFPA Standards.
Felipe Garcia Since joining The Mount Sinai Hospital in 2012, Felipe Garcia has established himself as a leading expert in healthcare operations, mechanical systems, and energy management. His career trajectory with Crothall Healthcare has seen him master roles in mechanical design and facilities healthcare operations, particularly within HVAC management. From HVAC Manager to Assistant Director, Felipe's leadership and expertise have continually advanced, culminating in his current role as Director of Energy Management for the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS). He is responsible for overseeing an energy budget of over $65 million across 8.3 million square feet of healthcare and educational facilities spread over seven campuses.
John Mezic Has worked in the critical MEP engineering area for over 30 years. Vast experience in data centers, trading floors and high-rise office buildings. Extensive knowledge in critical infrastructure including UPS systems and distribution, generator plants, EPMS monitoring, and critical cooling. Has designed and upgraded hundreds of thousands of sqft of office and data center space. Have provided technical services for high profile clients including MEP maintenance, testing and operations consulting.
The day will be filled of sharing all things are good on a regular day, however fires nor mayhem make appointments, and compliance is a must. Further, they will address the group regarding historical hospital fires, what they can do towards compliance and a review of basic code requirements.
